Sous Vide Tools in ‘waterproof first’ with latest product launch

Sous Vide Plus

Sous Vide Tools has launched what is said to be the first waterproof sous vide cooker for the professional kitchen.

The UK-based supplier, which distributes across the US, has introduced the iVide Plus thermal circulator, which turns any suitable vessel into a temperature-controlled sous vide water bath, while using wi-fi technology for remote operation.

The iVide Plus is designed to be clamped to any round or flat stainless steel/polycarbonate container or kitchen vessel with a minimum depth of 16.5cm and maximum capacity of 80litres.

The thermal circulator will then heat the water to a working temperature of 5°C to 99°C, with an accuracy of 0.07°C. The wi-fi enabled unit can be remotely controlled via the iVide app, and can also be programmed using the large, high resolution touch screen.

Using the app, available on IOS and Android, the user should be able to control the precise temperature of the unit from afar and receive notifications to confirm when the water is at temperature, and when the food is cooked.

Using a timer that can be set between one minute and 99 hours, the unit will notify the user with an alarm and display indicator when the cooking time is up, while the app will hold the food at the optimum temperature.

The app also accesses over 600 recipes, and offers a recipe memory, stored cooking history, a sous vide calculator, and a multi-language control function. Several iVide Plus cookers can be operated at once from a single app, for flexibility.

The heavy-duty, stainless steel iVide Plus unit houses a 2.2kW heating element for fast heating, while the stirrer technology should ensure no hot or cold spots. It is designed to be space saving and comes with a carry case to make it portable and easy to store.

The unit is also able to withstand immersion in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes, which could avoid damage from accidental spills or submersions. Other safety features include low a water level protection system that shuts off the circulator and sounds an alarm if the water level drops below the required minimum level.

The iVide Plus thermal circulator comes with a 2 year warranty.
