Edward Don & Company views a new distribution center it has just opened in Seattle as a “springboard” to growth in the Pacific Northwest and western Canadian markets.
The site, in Auburn, Washington, spans 157,000 square feet and is now fully operational.
It is run by a staff of approximately 80 employees and features state-of-the-art technology while housing more than 7,000 stocked items with inventory expected to increase in the future.
Planning for the new distribution center began shortly after Edward Don & Company acquired Kent, Washington-based Smith & Greene Company in January of 2018.
The enhanced space means that Smith & Greene’s portfolio has been strengthened with a wider range of equipment, smallwares, disposables and janitorial products.
“This is a multi-phase rollout that has been carefully planned and executed over the past year,” explained Mike Bartoszek, vice president of operations for Edward Don & Company.
“It allows us to ensure that our customers experience a seamless transition without any risk of service interruptions.”
The Washington facility is the seventh national distribution hub that Edward Don & Company operates in the US.
It also has operations in Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, Los Angeles and Seattle.
