Rational is to step up production of its iVario systems amidst rapidly growing demand for multifunctional cooking platforms.
The 50,000th iVario unit rolled off the production line of its factory in Wittenheim, France last month, prompting bosses to press the button on plans for a new $35m facility with greater capacity.
A new factory, offices, training centre and 300-seater company restaurant within a 10,000 square metre site are slated to open in spring 2023.
The site will give Rational a production capacity of 25,000 cooking systems per year.
The German manufacturer will use the expansion as an opportunity to build a “truly sustainable” building.
The steel construction will be highly insulated and extremely energy-efficient, with the building heated and cooled by a heat pump.
Intelligent, daylight-dependent LED lighting controls with separate lighting zones will save energy, while the high proportion of glass in the façade will ensure the best possible working conditions.
Peter Wiedemann, chief technology officer at Rational, said: “Having already expanded production in 2015, we now need to adjust capacity again to meet growing demand. The production of the 50,000th iVario proves that we are producing outstanding products.”
