Rational shows improvements in environmental responsibility


Rational has released its 2018 Growth and Sustainability Report, which shows improvements in key categories such as environmental responsibility and logistics.

The leading combi-oven manufacturer said that corporate social responsibility initiatives have ensured the achievement of essential sustainability objectives.

Amongst the highlights mentioned in the report were receiving an energy star for the SelfCookingCenter in the US, the production of combi-steamers with 90% recyclable materials and a 10% reduction in combi-steamer energy consumption.

Meanwhile the report revealed that 75% of the company’s packaging is produced with wood and cardboard and 97% of packaging is produced with recyclable materials.

Rational’s CEO, Dr Peter Stadelmann, said: “Sustainable actions and a commitment to social responsibility have been core elements of our corporate policy since Rational was founded in 1973.

“Responsible corporate management and treating our enviroment with respect are a matter of course for us. In addition, we assume responsibility for our employees, making a positive contrubution to the development of society and working together with all stakeholders in a spirit of long-term partnership and respect.”

More than 600,000 Rational SelfCookingCenter combi-steamers and nearly 30,000 VarioCookingCenters multifunctional cooking appliances in the market produce roughly 130 million meals per day.
