Multifunctional foodservice technology specialist Rational has opened a new distribution facility in Commerce, California, just outside Los Angeles.
The move marks a further expansion to its warehousing and logistics capabilities in the fast-growing West Coast region.
The 150,000-square-foot warehouse is managed by a third party logistics provider and began shipping product to customers earlier this month.
It stores many of the manufacturer’s quick-ship products, including standard configuration Rational combi ovens, accessories and cleaning supplies.
The warehouse’s strategic location close to the Port of Los Angeles enables items to be received and shipped out quickly, the company said, with the ability to reach 92% of customers near the West Coast within two days, and many within one day.
Earlier this year, Rational added 21,000 square feet to its primary North American distribution center near Chicago, which serves as its North American supply chain hub.
“We remain optimistic about our future growth trajectory and continue to invest in the business to enhance the level service we provide customers,” said Markus Glueck, executive vice president, Rational North America. “As the number of Rational customers in the west continues to grow, so too has our warehousing and distribution infrastructure, so that we now are able to deliver many products in just one or two days.”
