Rational USA’s national corporate chef has been awarded a Champions of Change Award, presented by the International Dairy Deli Bakery Association (IDDBA) and Winsight Grocery Business magazine.
Billy Buck received the Emerging Champion Award during an event held at the IDDBA 19 show in Orlando on Sunday.
Buck was awarded for “exemplifying the change he wants to see in the culinary industry” after he transformed the IDDBA show in the last five years.
He joined the Association’s Show and Sell planning committee in 2013 and was responsible for bringing more culinary activity to the show, allowing for a more interactive experience for vendors and attendees.
“Before 2013, the Show and Sell section was a sea of static products on display,” he said, “Today, vendors can more easily ignite potential partnerships by being more interactive with attendees, and highlighting the unique capabilities of their products.”
The award was welcomed by Rational North America’s executive Vice President Markus Glueck.
He said: “It’s inspiring to work with Billy. He loves our product and exemplifies the Rational brand, and he also loves teaching culinary professionals about combi technology and how it can assist them in the kitchen. This passion is why our corporate chef team is at the top of their game. We are pleased, and yet not surprised, that he is receiving an award for excellence.”
In the past, Buck has donated chef-made meals to a local food bank in addition to offering local school children the opportunity to earn real-life culinary experience working in his kitchen.
