NSF subsidiary working with Google Glass to transform foodservice worker training

EyeSucceed, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NSF International, has been recognized for its innovative design and technology with a SMART Label award.

The company, which leverages NSF International’s 75-year expertise in the food industry, was founded five years ago with the goal of using technology to solve the substantial and specific challenges faced by food industry companies.

Working directly with Google’s Glass team and foodservice operations on the Google campus in the U.S., EyeSucceed has been piloting food industry applications of Glass, including foodservice worker training and remote food safety and quality audits, since February 2015.

“We are pleased to be recognized for our innovative technology,” said Sarah Krol, NSF International’s sr. global managing director of food safety product certification.

“EyeSucceed is combining the power of augmented intelligence with wearable technology and transforming the global food industry. We are the industry’s augmented reality and smartglass technology expert, working with clients in foodservice, retail and the supply chain.”

The technology not only addresses food industry challenges like high labor costs, food safety, employee turnover and training; it also drives efficient, consistent and high-quality results in the food sector.

EyeSucceed can be used throughout the supply chain – at the farming, food processing and retail/restaurant levels – for a variety of functions including training, remote assistance, management operations tools and more efficient equipment operations.

EyeSucceed provides a one-of-a-kind, hands-free training module. Glass is worn by the user like a pair of eye glasses and an optical display located in the user’s field of vision displays training content.

Users navigate through the step-by-step instructions using voice commands or a scroll pad embedded in the side frame. Employee actions, including time between steps, deviation from correct procedures and corrective actions, can be uploaded into the cloud. Once the data is collected, it can be analyzed to identify efficiencies and process improvements.

Food equipment cleaning, maintenance and troubleshooting in the foodservice, catering and hospitality markets might occasionally be perceived to be complex and cumbersome.

Use of EyeSucceed smartglass solutions breaks with and moves beyond the traditional approach, according to the firm.

The company was presented with the award at the recent HOST exhibition in Milan.
