ITW arrows in on connected kitchens

ITW Food Equipment Group has launched the Hobart SmartConnect app – the first in a new suite of apps designed to connect end-users to various WiFi-enabled commercial kitchen equipment across its brand companies.

The SmartConnect365 suite will allow users to connect to any WiFi-enabled ITW Food Equipment Group devices using an existing network.

ITW said it would give operators access to real-time performance data for equipment from brands such as Hobart, Baxter, Traulsen, Vulcan, Foster and Bonnet.

Users will be able to gain important insight into how equipment is being used, monitor sanitization status and water and energy consumption, and reduce downtime with equipment status and email alerts notifying users about machine errors.

Hobart Commercial dishwashers will be the first products accessible in the Hobart SmartConnect app, specifically the new Hobart AM16 Door Type and AMTL Two-Level Dishwashers just released to the market last month.

The SmartConnect app monitors a wide range of machine data and sends that data to the SmartConnect Cloud through the dishmachine’s onboard WiFi.

Users can pair their compatible machine with the free smart phone app; then track and analyze dishmachine data on their smartphone or tablet.

Having this information allows users to create better procedures and enhance performance in the dishroom by monitoring sanitization, analyzing usage, consumption and costs, and by getting emails for critical events.

A simple interface visualizes this information over days, weeks, months or years.

Hobart Warewash marketing manager, Jerry Socha, said: “Recognizing the needs of busy kitchens, we have engineered a new kind of commercial dishwasher designed to improve dishroom performance, reduce labor and lower the cost of operations. SmartConnect builds on this by giving further insights to kitchen managers and restaurant owners by providing information on how to improve productivity and efficiency.”

With the SmartConnect365 suite of apps, users will be able to connect to WiFi-enabled products from multiple ITW Food Equipment Group brands.

Following the launch of the Hobart SmartConnect app, additional apps will be made available for other ITW Food Equipment Group brands.
