Ice machine leasing firm makes consolidation look Easy

Easy Ice insists it has the funds and appetite to further consolidate the ice machine service market after snapping up two businesses in quick succession.

The full-service ice machine subscription firm has acquired Cube Aire Refrigeration in Lakeside, CA and Polar Ice Systems in DeMotte, IN as part of a move to grow its US presence.

Cube Aire has operated out of Lakeside, CA since 1957 and served as a Hoshizaki-exclusive company for more than 40 years.

Easy Ice CAO Darren Boruff said Cube Aire’s knowledge of Hoshizaki ice machines and commitment to excellent technical service makes it an ideal fit.

“Acquiring Cube Aire supports our goal of enhancing our customer density in the area, along with adding a branch location and service facility in a major California market,” he said.

“Our technology, customer support systems, and industry-leading training protocols enable us to provide uninterrupted, quality service to Cube Aire customers through this transition and beyond.”

Polar Ice Systems, meanwhile, is an ice machine leasing and service company that has grown its presence beyond Indiana into Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin.

“We are extremely excited to continue our expansion in the Chicago area,” said Boruff. “The acquisition of Polar Ice Systems supports our goal of enhancing our customer density, along with adding another branch location and service facility in a major market.”

Since its inception in 2009, Easy Ice has achieved notable expansion through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions.

Already this year it has acquired Arctic Glacier’s ice machine leasing division, Icesurance, in Los Angeles, CA and Thrifty Refrigeration and A/C in Fort Myers, FL.

The company now boasts 16 branch locations around the country.

Easy Ice has increased its number of ice machines under management to over 30,000 units across 47 states.
