Today marks 2 weeks until this edition of Host kicks off at the Fiera Milano from 20-24 October.
The latest hospitality industry innovations, including catering equipment, will be showcased in the 16 halls. Machines have become essential for pastry and pizza chefs, ice cream makers, chefs, and baristas, and they will be used in hundreds of cooking shows, demonstrations, challenges, and championships at the event.
2,081 companies have already confirmed their attendance, including 1,255 Italian (60.3%) and 826 international firms (39.7%, +11% compared to the previous edition), representing 51 countries. These figures show a general growth of the event compared to 2015, which numbered 2,010 companies.
“With a 3.5% increase compared to the same date in 2015, figures confirm Host’s leading position among international trade fairs and are very promising for this 40th edition,” said Simona Greco, Fiera Milano’s art, fashion, hospitality and travel exhibitions director.
“Host is the perfect marketplace where Italian and international manufacturers can present their technological innovations and trends in the hospitality industry. Thanks should also go to the Fiera Milano’s continuous scouting to select high-profile buyers. And this year, there will be over 1,500 of them from all five continents.”
The progressively international nature of HostMilano is demonstrated by new entries i.e., Egypt, New Zealand, South Africa, Ukraine, and Uganda, which will be taking to the stage for the first time, while Canada will be back after several years. Europe will be boasting the largest number of companies (71.4%), with Germany, Spain and France topping the list, followed closely by the USA, the UK, Switzerland, Portugal, Greece, the Netherlands, and Austria.
The foodservice equipment and bread pizza pasta will be the most represented product categories, equating to 43.7% of stands, while coffee, tea, bars, coffee and vending machines will be represented by 37.5% of companies, and furniture and tableware, by 18.8%.
Hosted buyers from all over have been selected thanks to the growing investment in profiling and the close collaboration with the ITA – Italian Trade Agency. Over 1,500 buyers from Europe (10%), the Mediterranean (6%), the Middle East (15%), North America (23%), Central and South America (8%), Russia (18%), South Africa (1%), Asia and Oceania (19%) will attend.
For the first time this year, visitors can enjoy a hands-on experience with a ‘hybridisation’ theme. For this reason, ice cream, pastries, and coffee – halls 10 and 14 – will be joined through the Experience Gallery, a bridge between the worlds of ice cream and pastries and coffee but also a path that will reportedly “stimulate all five senses”.
The 40th edition of HostMilano will also have over 500 events, including workshops, training opportunities, round tables, and cooking shows.
