Tableware manufacturer, Homer Laughlin, rolls out new Gala range to improve the speed of service and quality of presentation in the foodservice industry.
The range is suitable for high-end restaurants, other white-tablecloth environments, catering and banquet operations, general dining occasions.
Homer Laughlin made Gala its marquee new product introduction at this year’s NAFEM Show in Orlando.
The plate is 10-3/8”, weighs 23.9 ounces, has two styles available and has a lifetime limited warranty against chipping under normal usage conditions.
Christopher Park, a dinnerware designer at Homer Laughlin, said: “We developed Gala to be the ultimate in banquet ware. Lightweight for easier carrying, while retaining the famous Homer Laughlin strength.
“In the dinnerware realm, light often equals weak and strong is synonymous with bulky. Gala offers the best of both worlds for high-volume environments where speed of service and quality of presentation are equally important.”
In a fast-paced foodservice environment, the majority of chipping happens due to edge-to-edge contact, where the plate has the least amount of surface area and protection.
Gala’s cord edge is said to resolve the problem without adding significant weight. Its rim is also concave and at a higher angle for added strength and light reflection.
The Homer Laughlin China Company (HLC Inc.), founded in 1871, is a domestic tableware manufacturer which employs over 800 in a 37-acre facility. Homer Laughlin China and Hall China comprise the HLC Inc. family of companies.
