A German supermarket chain has praised its partnership with US giant Alto-Shaam saying that using the manufacturer’s products has greatly improved the quality of the food it produces in-store.
REWE, Germany’s second largest retail chain, first started using the firm’s products seven years ago and now has more than 600 Alto-Shaam countertop combination ovens in stores throughout Germany.
The products used by REWE include the CT Express (CTX4-10E) Combitherm Combi oven with a smoker option, the first Alto-Shaam product it used, and the Alto-Shaam CTP6-10E, a slightly larger combination oven and steamer.
Stephan Otterbach, Gebietsmanager Fisch REWE Südwest, said that the Alto-Shaam equipment delivers a range of benefits.
He said: “The food we prepare in the Alto-Shaam ovens proves very popular with our customers and sells well. And with the smoker function, we have been able to increase the variety of products available.”
He continues: “The quality of the food is always very good, and the speed of service is also very fast. The equipment also has the benefit of being very easy to use. Our employees do not have to know any recipes; they simply put whatever they want cooked or smoked into the oven, push a button, and take it out again when it’s done. It is very efficient and doesn’t require significant training. Almost anyone can use it.”
Otterbach has also praised the design and customization available with the equipment: “The oven can be supplied in a range of different color schemes, and for those that we use front-of-house we have chosen a black finish.”
Alto-Shaam is a leading player in the foodservice equipment industry and is known for its innovations in oven manufacturing, with headquarters based in Wisconsin.
